Let's face it, water is some of the most fun terrain to fly over for a handful of reasons: seeing your reflection, enjoying the smooth conditions, or just exploring the shoreline is something we all enjoy.

However water brings risk, and if you go into the water you need to take steps towards ensuring your safety and recovery of the equipment. Floatation devices, like the PPG Smoke Dual Float or U-Float, is a step in that direction. Having something to help catch you and keeps you afloat reduces your risk BIG TIME. Water risk is serious, and floats have proven to help reduce that. For a small investment you can have some serious safety.

The PPG Smoke Dual Float system is built out of a high quality Cordura fabric and designed with an easy Velcro mounting system. It truly is a "plug and play" for any paramotor, big or small. This system is a phenomenal safety net for either freshwater or saltwater flights, offering up to 300N of buoyancy within moments of water contact. 

This system is a bulletproof safety net for paramotoring, paragliding, SIV's, and hang gliding scenarios. The Dual Float System uses a bobbin-trigger mechanism that upon water contact dissolves, activating a CO2 cartridge that inflates the floatation bladder. Each of the units (left and right) can also manually inflate through an oral tube or pull-string as a backup.

Floatation in all honesty is one of those items we truly hope you never need to use. But in the off chance you ever do need to use it, we hope you have it. Floats are a simple, affordable, and easy way to help mitigate the risk of water - which is very risky for us. They're a safety net, for you, and your equipment. We firmly believe every paramotor pilot should fly with floats anytime they're near water.

#1 - Effortless Installation:

You need float systems that can be easily installed wherever you want. The PPG Smoke Dual Float system is designed to be simple and easy to install. It's built with a universal Velcro mounting system, making it easy to attach to any spar, frame, or paramotor, regardless of location. It seamlessly and securely attaches to whichever section of your paramotor you choose. Common installation locations are the shoulder straps, the main frame beside the swingarms, and horizontal spars. Each of these three locations has its pros and cons, and you can quickly change the placement as desired.

#2 - Lightweight Design (0.95lbs):

The PPG Smoke Dual Float weighs in at 0.95lbs per side with the co2 installed. This means for under 2lbs you are equipped with a possible life saving device, that you'll hopefully never need, but be glad you had. This lightweight design is achieved through a minimalistic design, tough but light cordura nylon, and a simple attachment system. No complex buckles, no extra fufu, and no added weight.

#3 - Redundancy:

The PPG Smoke Dual Float system is built with 3 forms of redundancy. Firstly they are designed to auto inflate upon contacting water. They do not inflate from light water contact, like foot drags or dew. Secondly, they have a manual inflation tab that you can easily pull if needed. And third they can be manually inflated through the blow tube near the top. The Dual Floats are also dual redundant by design, since they're two separate systems in place (left and right) with separate co2.

Recharging

To reset, simply remove the used CO2 cartridge and bobbin, deflate the bladder, and replace the components. It's as simple as unscrew, deflate, and reload for your next overwater adventure. Recharge kits can be found on our website.

Dual Float vs U-Float:

We commonly get asked which style of floatation we recommend, and wanted to give you some pros and cons to both of them. They are both great systems, and do a great job at helping keep you and equipment afloat, but they do have unique advantages over each other. The Dual Float system is more sleek, minimalistic, and easy to "set and forget" that it is there. Mounting on the side of the main frame and it's likely you forget you even have it. The U-Float is designed to keep your head above water more easily and longer, but is more bulky than the dual float. For extreme water flying we highly recommend the U-Float, for more casual water flying we recommend the Dual Float.
