7 Key Features:
#1 - FAR 103 Compliant:
Under FAR 103 we are legally allowed to fly during the two twilight hours of the day, 30 minutes before sunrise, and 30 minutes after sunset as long as we have a strobe that is visible for 3 miles. The PPG Smoke strobe is fully FAR 103 compliant, and gives you the freedom to keep on flying. No more cutting those glorious flights short! For a light to be FAR 103 compliant it needs to be at least 1000 lumens, the PPG Smoke Strobe is 2080.
#2 - Easy To Mount Where You Please:
Strobes need to be simple to install, easy to use, and out of the way in flight. The PPG Smoke Strobe comes with two easy to install mounting systems. The first is a 3m adhesive that's built to attach to your helmet or other similar surfaces. The Strobe itself has a ring in it to perfectly match the adhesive ring. The second mounting system is our unique strobe mount, which is made to be zip tied onto your main frame, cage, or the spar of your paramotor. This strobe mount is designed so it is easy to remove and attach the strobe separate from the strobe mount for easy charging after flight. The strobe mount has a curved attachment spot to match the common curve of frames, cages, spars, etc.
#3 - 8 LED Lights That Are 2080 Lumens:
The PPG Smoke strobe is built with 8 separate LED lights that emits 2080 lumens. There are 4 individual led lights on the front, and 4 on the back, giving you a 360 degree flash. This strobe is not directional like a common strobe, which means it doesn't matter which direction you are facing to see the strobe. 2080 Lumens is also more than double the average strobe which has 1000 lumens. Legally FAR 103 requires 1000 lumens for flying in civil twilight, and the PPG Smoke strobe doubles that.
#4 - Simple, Easy, And Ready To Go:
A strobe needs to be simple with a single on or off switch that can be flipped without question. NO pressing and holding for 4 seconds, then double tapping and spinning it around... yeah, some strobes are like that. A strobe needs to be effortless to turn on and know it's on. The PPG Smoke Strobe has a single on and off switch that is easy to reach and feel while in flight. Plus it has 3 flashing options that are easy to toggle via seprate switches leaving the power button to do only one thing - power it on and off. This Strobe makes life easy!
#5 - Battery Life:
The PPG Smoke Strobe battery life is up to 2 hours of continuous use. This is more than enough to get you through a weekend of flying without worrying about charging it up. Battery life is a trade off, and making a larger battery makes the entire strobe larger and heavier, and one of the best parts about the PPG Smoke Strobe is how slim, simple, and lightweight it is. Charge time via USB-C is 3 hours, depending on cord and plug in location.
#6 - Unique Flash Settings:
The Strobe by PPG Smoke has a handful of unique flash settings. The standard flash is a single flash on all 8 LED lights every 1-2 seconds. You can toggle on our glow feature which will leave all 8 LED lights at half brightness continuously, and flashing to full brightness every 1-2 seconds. You can then toggle our double flash, which will flash twice back to back, every 1-2 seconds. The glow feature can also be toggled with the double flash. These options are easy to toggle, and you do not need to change/toggle them every time you go to use them. Once set they stay set until you change them again. In the photo below, on the right side of the strobe, you can see 3 switches. This is how you will toggle the glow and double flash.

So I am mounting 1 strobe on each wingtip of a part 103 UL plane. I needed a flat surface mount that I could remove the strobe for charging so I made one and 3d printed it. I love how simple it is to sync the strobes and that there are just manual sliders for settings. The LAST thing I need are frickin’ bluetooth app to complexify what should be simple. VERY bright but haven’t tested yet.

It’s truly a "plug-and-play" solution—I had it powered up and ready to go in seconds. The brightness is impressive, providing excellent visibility that gives you real peace of mind while in the air. One Small Suggestion While the included mounting is functional, I’d love to see both rounded and flat adhesive mounts included as standard options. Having a contoured mount would make it much easier to secure the light flush against the various curved surfaces of a paramotor frame or helmet. Bottom Line: If you want a hassle-free, reliable strobe to keep you legal and visible, this is it.

In comparison to other strobes designed for PPG on the market, the battery life is sub par. I maybe get two flights on a full charge while my other strobe has been going strong for over 10 flights. Otherwise, good product
